‘Real-life’ Martha from Baby Reindeer hires ‘aggressive’ US law firm which warns Netflix to ‘preserve evidence’ as she prepares to launch legal action against producers of the hit show for telling ‘lies’ about her

Netflix has been warned to ‘preserve evidence’ by Manhattan lawyers acting for the woman identified as the real Baby Reindeer ‘stalker’.

Fiona Harvey has instructed ‘aggressive’ New York lawyers The Roth Law Firm – who pride themselves on taking a ‘take off gloves’ approach to fighting for their clients.

It comes as Ms Harvey prepares to sue the makers of the hit Netflix drama, after vowing legal action against streaming giant and comedian Richard Gadd, who wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed miniseries.

She has stated that she is clearly the person being portrayed as the sick stalker ‘Martha’ and believes the show’s creators have ‘made millions’ by telling ‘lies’ about her.

The seven-part drama is being billed by the streaming giant as a “true story” – not even “based on” a true story.

And yet “Martha” is depicted pleading guilty and receiving nine months in prison, which she claims never happened.

Ms Harvey, 58, who lives in central London, insists it is complete fantasy to suggest she has a criminal conviction and is therefore painting an ‘unfair and false picture of me’.

It took internet sleuths almost no time to identify her as the real “Martha” based on the story’s clues.

She is assisted by leading British lawyer Chris Daw KC, who is representing the Manhattan lawyers.

Yesterday, The Roth Law Firm warned Netflix, Mr Gadd and the production company Clerkenwell Films not to remove any potential evidence ahead of possible legal proceedings.

A statement said: “Fiona Harvey, the real “Martha” on the Baby Reindeer television show, who has never been contacted by Netflix or any person or entity associated with the show, has retained The Roth Law Firm in connection with its legal claims. related to production.

‘In addition, steps are being taken to require Richard Gadd, Netflix and Clerkenwell Films, and all related individuals and entities, to take all necessary steps to safeguard evidence.’

On its website, The Roth Law Firm says, “The Roth Law Firm is an aggressive and innovative small law firm in New York City that has built a strong reputation as a leading boutique litigation firm. The power lies in the ability to ‘take off the gloves’ when necessary’.

Netflix, Gadd and Clerkenwell Films were all contacted for comment.
