Marsfield deaths: The tragic way Jennifer Carrig and her teenage daughter Ella were found after their mysterious deaths at suburban home – as friends reveal how the selfless mum was the ‘best mumma’

Friends and neighbors are left speechless with grief after making the horrific discovery that a mother and her daughter were found dead at home under mysterious circumstances.

Jennifer Carrig, 53, and her daughter Ella, 13, were found at their home on Menzies Road in Sydney’s Marsfield.Ney’s North West just after 10.20am on Thursday following a report of welfare concerns.

Their bodies were found in separate bedrooms and showed no signs of injury.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths are being investigated by police. They do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

The tragedy prompted an outpouring of tributes to the couple, who had lived in the house for several years.

Mrs Carrig is remembered as the ‘best mother’ to her family, including to her daughter Ella, who was disabled and required full-time care.

“She was the best, so caring and thoughtful,” Mrs Carrig’s best friend Samantha Thomas-Barber told the Daily telegram.

“A true sweetheart and fighter… she was the best mother to her family.”

Neighbors in the quiet suburb were “completely shocked.”

Many said that they Thursday morning they heard or saw nothing out of the ordinary until they saw the emergency services in their street.

“I’m devastated,” said one local resident.

“When we saw all those police, we couldn’t imagine that this was the reason.”

Another saw Mrs. Carrig’s eldest son sitting at the door, ‘shaking… (with) his head in his hands, rocking back and forth. It was horrible.’

Vera Wen said she was ‘still shaking’ and that every day she watched Mrs Carrig come out to put her daughter on the bus.

She described Mrs. Carig as ‘a very nice lady, so friendly’.

Another resident called them a nice family.

“There were always people coming in and out of the house,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“It’s so sad to think that two of them died.”

A family friend told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday that Jennifer took him in when he was homeless.

He said he immediately ran home when he heard about the pair’s deaths.

“I can’t believe this happened,” the friend said.

‘Jen has lived here her whole life and that house was actually meant for her children.

“The fact that Ella passed away just sucks.”

‘I moved out of home about four months ago and haven’t been back since.

“When I got the call while I was taking my motorcycle test, I jumped in an Uber and came straight here.”

He said that Ella lived with a disability and that the mother had recently renovated her home.

A third neighbor said that Jennifer used to babysit him and that he had known her all his life.

“It’s sad,” he said.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that an assault warrant was issued for Ms Carrig earlier this year.

The case is currently before the court.

There is no suggestion that the individuals subject to the AVO procedure played any role in the deaths.
