Married At First Sight’s Sara Mesa reveals the surprising toll cheating scandal has taken on her

MAFS bride Sara Mesa has opened up about the aftermath of her infamous cheating scandal, detailing the emotional turmoil and public backlash she faces.

“It was very hard to see everything again,” Sara, 29, told Ny Breaking Australia on Wednesday.

The Sydney nutritionist admitted that reliving her experience has forced her to confront aspects of her behavior that she is not proud of.

‘It made me feel very sad, especially because of the way I treated Tim. I have so many regrets… It’s like holding a mirror up to a lot of the things I need to work on, on myself and in relationships.”

The days after the revelations about the deception were particularly difficult.

“It was a super emotional and stressful week,” she describes. The intensity of the experiment almost pushed her to her limits.

“I was ready to just leave the experiment… I wasn’t fed up with everything that was going on and I knew Tim and I wouldn’t be able to work on our relationship if everyone was at our throats about it.”

Despite the scandal, Sara and Tim, 31, had begun to rekindle their bond.

“It felt really hard…we really felt that spark again,” she reveals. But the weight of the situation was crushing.

‘Everyone hated me… my mental health was just absolutely destroyed.’

The toll on her well-being was compounded during Feedback Week, during a task that involved a brutal series of questions from Jayden Eynaud and his partner Eden Harper.

“No matter what I say, you’re not going to believe me,” she recalled feeling at the time.

Looking back on her actions, Sara expresses remorse and a wish to have done things differently.

“If I could go back and do it differently, I would have told (Tim),” she claims, acknowledging that her approach at the dinner could have been more compassionate.

The audience’s reaction was a new hurdle, one that even caught Sara off guard, despite considering herself as tough-skinned.

“The audience reaction was crazy,” she says, expressing understanding of viewers’ feelings.

Despite the negative image, she seeks support from loved ones and focuses on personal growth.

“It’s a shame that the show really shows me as a one-dimensional person,” she complains.

Amid the storm, Sara sets out to prove her opponents wrong and fight for her relationship with Tim.

Looking ahead, Sara was heartened by Tim’s support at the next dinner.

“He would be behind me 100%,” she says, grateful for their united front amid the ongoing drama.
