Married At First Sight’s Lucinda Light reveals the sad truth about her relationship with Timothy Smith after their shock split and the real reason they never had sex

Married At First Sight bride Lucinda Light has opened up about her failed ‘marriage’ to Timothy Smith after the couple ended their relationship on the show on Sunday night.

The 43-year-old revealed the fan favorites were just two very different people in an exclusive interview with Ny Breaking Australia.

“I think I just realized that I wanted something different for myself,” she said.

‘I don’t want to say that I deserve better than Tim, because Tim is an absolute legend and a half, but I think we really live life differently and have different expectations about our daily lives, our emotions, our feelings and our relationships. ‘

Things went from bad to worse for the couple during their guest stay in Melbourne, as Timothy withdrew and wanted ‘me time’ before spending time with a partner.

Lucinda said she felt a huge change, especially after talking to Timothy’s friends.

“Melbourne came to a crescendo in many ways. And I think the penny kind of dropped for me when I talked to his friends, who say he’s actually a very loving and caring partner, but it just wasn’t, it wasn’t my experience,” she explained.

Timothy, 51, and Lucinda were one of the few couples who remained on the show until the final weeks without ever consummating their marriage.

Some of their problems boiled down to the fact that Timothy was still deeply grieving the death of his father.

“And look, I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that Tim was grieving. His father, there’s a lot going on for Tim personally,” she sympathized.

‘It doesn’t mean that I deserve better than Tim, because Tim is an absolute legend and a half, but I think we really live life differently and have different expectations about our daily lives, our emotions, our feelings, our relationships. she explained

She added that she struggled to be with someone who is so different in dealing with emotions.

“Everything from his father recently passing away, to feeling the stress of the show,” she explained.

‘To be matched with someone who really loves communication and sharing feelings, it was exhausting for Tim.

“I was a lot more than he expected, I’m certainly a very acquired thing, not for everyone, and I like to get into the nitty gritty of it all and it’s just not his usual jargon.”

She said their journey also had too many ups and downs.

“Host families were the biggest, but the whole trip was full of, ‘Oh God, I don’t know if he likes me,’ and then little glimmers of hope. It was a mixed bag,” she said.

‘I deserve better than that’

She added that the final nail in the coffin of their relationship was Timothy’s absence at a crucial time during Homestays week.

“Oh look, I understood that he needed time alone with his dogs and so I did, I said ‘go for a walk’ and he did. But I was a little disappointed that I was rejected because I had plans,” she explained.

‘I didn’t get any communication. I didn’t receive a text message. I didn’t get a phone call. And I think I deserve better than that.’

Reflecting on her own personal growth, Lucinda said she also has some work to do on herself.

“I’ve learned that I’m a leaf blower and that I’m way too much… I can kind of get into the role of mother rescue therapy… I want to be someone’s partner, a co-creator, a co-visionary. So I look at myself,” she said.

As for her current relationship with Timothy, it seems like the pair has found a friendship that works better than a relationship.

‘We are super good friends. So much love. I talk to him almost every day,” Lucinda said.

When asked if she would consider returning to the show, Lucinda said she was satisfied with her one-time reality show journey.

‘I don’t know if I would do this show again. Yeah, I don’t think so. No,” she explained.

“But look, I don’t regret doing the show. It is also the gift that keeps on giving and the love has been exponential.”
