A Neighbours actor has joined the cast of 2025’s Married At First Sight and has already been linked to his on-screen bride.
Jeff Gobbels is the third TV star to be cast for the upcoming episode of the dating show. Fans reacted negatively to the producers’ decision to cast well-known names.
He made his debut in the Australian soap opera Neighbours in 2017 as police officer Kurt Bridges and went on to appear in three episodes of the show.
He has also had smaller acting roles in the TV miniseries The Warriors, the 2018 film Undertow, and the 2019 Chinese drama The Whistleblower.
Now he is the latest actor to join the reality series MAFS, which is set to air in 2025. He has also been spotted filming his wedding.
His casting comes after fans threatened to boycott the 2025 series after it was announced that a raft of well-known personalities and TV stars would be cast instead of average Australians.
The Bachelor education star Sierah Swepstone and Perth fitness coach Paul Antoine, who previously appeared on The Real Love Boat, will both be part of the new season.
Jeff is paired with previously announced contestant Rhi Disljenkovic. Photos obtained by Daily Mail Australia show the groom looking dapper ahead of his wedding.

Jeff is the third TV star to be cast for the upcoming episode of the dating show, which has drawn backlash from fans after producers reportedly cast big names
On the big day, Jeff looked elegant in a black three-piece suit with a white corsage on his lapel as he prepared to meet his bride for the first time.
He was closely followed by the cameras as he prepared to walk down the aisle, scenes which will air on Channel Nine’s show early next year.
In addition to his acting career, Jeff is also the CEO of two companies: a line of fruit water called Fi Water and the alcohol brand Splash Vodka.
He previously played football for Balwyn Tigers FC and was reportedly previously married from 2019 to 2021.
Looking for a second chance at love, dating experts paired Jeff with glamorous Melbourne fitness blogger Rhi.
She was the first confirmed cast member for the upcoming twelfth season of the dramatic dating experiment.
Rhi currently works as an IT Account Manager at Seisma Group. In the past he held similar management positions at other companies.

She is also a fitness enthusiast and runs a popular fitness blog on Instagram, as well as reviewing gyms in Melbourne with her best friend Shayna.
The blog, which they started two years ago, now has just over 2,000 followers.
Her now private Instagram account now has nearly 3,000 followers, demonstrating her influence and popularity in the fitness community.
Her connections to the reality TV world are also close, with her being followed by former MAFS alumnus Eden Harper and The Bachelor stars Matt Agnew and Sam Wood.
Friends describe her as a “gorgeous, fun doll” who is always up for a party.
“Don’t get me wrong, she’s a fun-loving doll who wears her heart on her sleeve,” a friend told Daily Mail Australia. “She’s absolutely beautiful inside and out.”
The 2025 weddings are in full swing and Daily Mail Australia published photos from one of the first weddings filmed in Sydney earlier this week.
‘TikTok tradition’ Dave Thomas walked a blonde bride down the aisle on Tuesday as the couple filmed their wedding at Carriageworks in Redfern.
In addition to his acting career, Jeff is also the CEO of two companies: a fruit water brand called Fi Water and the alcohol brand Splash Vodka

The 36-year-old groom from Victoria stands at a whopping 7ft tall and runs his own kitting business, as well as having almost 30,000 followers on TikTok.
The handsome groom, also a bodybuilder and model, looked overjoyed as he married his beautiful bride.
His beautiful bride, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, looked stunning in a lace wedding dress on the special day.
Melbourne mother-of-two Morena Farina will also tie the knot, as will The Bachelor star Sierah.
Jewelry elimination of The Bachelor went down in reality tv history as one of the best exits when she hilariously confessed that Jimmy didn’t like ‘tall, horny bogans’ after he sent her home.
Despite her genuine search for love on her previous reality show, many believe her casting on MAFS is a strategic move by the producers to attract viewers rather than focusing on authentic matchmaking.
Some fans have even threatened to boycott the 2025 series after high-profile reality stars including Jeff, Sierah and Paul were cast.
Fans of the show vented their frustration on social media, accusing producers of recycling reality TV personalities instead of giving ordinary Australians a chance to find love.

“MAFS has lost its authenticity,” one disgruntled viewer wrote on Instagram.
“It’s about genuine people finding love, not more attention being paid to people who are already famous.”
Another fan commented: ‘I’m done with MAFS. Bringing in people like Paul and Sierah shows how desperate they are for ratings. I’m definitely boycotting this season.’
‘For the last time Australia wants to see real, genuine, ordinary people… not these types!! For God’s sake,’ wrote a third.
“Why can’t they find people who actually want to find a partner? Not someone who’s looking for social media fame. So when they see all these people who are just social climbers,” wondered another.
