Married prison guard ‘filmed having sex with inmate at HMP Wandsworth’ appears to still be wearing her wedding ring while on shopping trip

A married ex-prison guard accused of being filmed having sex with a prisoner in a Wandsworth cell has been found to still be wearing her wedding ring.

Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, from south-west London, was caught on Wednesday wearing a gold ring on the ring finger of her left hand while she went shopping.

She was photographed wearing a tight-fitting top, gray sweatpants, a baseball cap and sunglasses as she walked along the sidewalk with another unknown woman.

The mother is currently out on bail after being charged with misconduct in a public office by “performing sexual acts with a prisoner in a prison cell.”

She was filmed on a mobile phone allegedly having sex in a cell with convicted burglar Linton Weirich, 36.

The Metropolitan Police launched an urgent investigation after officers were alerted to a video believed to have been filmed at HMP Wandsworth between June 26 and 28.

In April, he was sentenced to four and a half years in prison on June 7 after stealing £65,000 worth of goods from a safe in a luxury apartment in Kensington.

Ms De Sousa Abreu was arrested at Heathrow Airport on June 29 before she could board a flight to join her family in Madrid, a court has previously heard.

She attempted to travel on a Portuguese passport, but her passport was confiscated by the Metropolitan Police.

Mrs De Sousa Abreu appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 1.

Wearing a gray tracksuit meant for custody, she spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address.

Prosecutor Niamh McDonagh told the court: ‘Ms De Sousa Abreu was arrested at Heathrow Airport where she was booked on a flight to Madrid. I believe she has relatives living there.

‘When she was arrested, her Portuguese passport was confiscated by the police. She is a Portuguese citizen with a Portuguese passport.’

Gayathri Yogarajah defended her by saying that Ms De Sousa Abreu had informed HMP Wandsworth of her travel plans and that these plans had then been passed on to Scotland Yard.
