The couple listed the rules in a TikTok video that has been viewed more than seven million times. Some of the rules include sharing their location with each other 24/7 and never “hanging out alone with the opposite sex”
The two also have “no secrets” and share “all passwords” with each other.
“These are things that we’ve agreed on in our relationship over time and from experience,” Jaden shared Fox news.
“These are just things that work for us in our current stage of life, and we were shocked to see how controversial they were.”
Jaden and Andy are both Christians and say their marriage is “rooted in our faith.” However, the customs were not determined by their religion.
“While we believe marriage is the greatest commitment anyone can make and we want to protect our marriage, none of the things mentioned in the video are based solely on our beliefs,” said Jaden.
The two also have “no secrets” and share “all passwords” with each other. “These are things that we’ve agreed on in our relationship over time and from experience,” Jaden told Fox News
The clip quickly went viral and many questioned the trust in the relationship.
“Sounds like a lack of trust to me,” one woman wrote, another said, “Tell me you don’t trust each other without telling me.”
A third wrote: ‘How often do you guys check that stuff? Having it is one thing, checking on each other all the time sounds like a trust issue.”
Some went further, calling the habits “toxic.”
Despite the backlash, others said they too have introduced “rules” into their own marriages.
‘That’s not strange at all! My husband and I do the same! Leave no room for uncertainty,” one woman wrote.
Another commented: ‘We have the same rules. It’s not a matter of trust, it’s a matter of safety and respect in terms of location and no friends of the opposite sex.”
