Married At First Sight UK star Erica Roberts has revealed the real reason behind her split from ‘husband’ Jordan Gayle earlier this year
When they split, Erica, 26, announced the news on her Instagram, insisting there was no “bad blood” between them
“I want to be your partner and your lover, not your therapist and your mother. It just became too much for me.”
Erica indicated that the relationship became too much for her and that their relationship was not ‘in balance’.
Erica and Jordan were guests on the Channel 4 show last year and first met at the altar on their wedding day.
They were an ‘intruder couple’ as they came on the show late and seemed to be one of the most in love couples.
However, during the explosive reunion show, Erica and Jordan’s co-star Laura Vaughan claimed that the couple fought all the time while she was still living with her.
But the turning point came on Jordan’s 27th birthday, when Erica surprised him with a trip to Scotland, where she lives.
Erica said that although she had booked a special trip for him, he was furious because she couldn’t come to a bowling night in Sheffield with his mother.
However, she has now revealed that their split wasn’t as amicable as she initially made it out to be, as she detailed his “insane behaviour” in the run-up to their split.
Erica said he told her her efforts had been the “bare minimum,” despite the fact that she claimed he had never taken her out to dinner.
The TV star admitted she felt like she “couldn’t do this anymore” and that it was “insane behaviour” from her ex.
Erica shared that there were a lot of “red flags” in the beginning of their relationship.
The couple also reportedly had an argument on the last night of their honeymoon in Antigua, which caused Erica to have second thoughts. However, this was not shown on TV.
She claimed that on their wedding day, he interrupted her or redirected the conversation back to him whenever she talked about herself.
She also confessed that it happened over and over again during their honeymoon.
Erica admitted that their relationship wasn’t at all what it seemed on screen, saying there were “a lot of things” going on that viewers didn’t see.
She added that when she tried to talk to him about her feelings about his dismissive attitude, he had a “breakdown.”
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Erica said: ‘It took a long time. I started to lose myself completely, trying to look after him.’
The star said she knew from that moment on that his communication skills were “non-existent” at the time.
She said she had to “comfort” him because he was angry about the way he made her feel.
Erica admitted it was the “common thread” throughout their relationship and said that looking back on their time together, she could see the “warning signs” were there from “day one.”
After the couple broke up, Erica claimed that most of her co-stars congratulated her for finally ending their relationship.
She claimed that they all responded with, “Good job getting rid of him,” and that the breakup was “long overdue.”

Although Jordan initially said he was “heartbroken” over the split, he has since moved on with Melissa Golik, an emergency room nurse from Australia.
The star also revealed that she stayed with Jordan for so long because there were some good moments in their relationship.
Erica told The Sun she “really liked him and wanted to make it work” because they “had so much fun together”.
But she admitted that after the show she felt like she was under pressure as a couple to make it work for the fans.
However, Erica claimed that she would eventually “need therapy” if she wanted to continue the relationship.
