The project support officer, 27, also shared Cosmopolitan that she went home to ‘devastating news’ after final vows were filmed for the reality dating show.

About the end of her relationship with window cleaner Matt, 29, Adrienne explained: “The relationship between Matt and I now is minimal, to say the least. The reunion was very, very difficult.

‘After the experiment, I actually came home with terrible news… And when I tried to stay in my feelings, it was like, ‘well, I’ve been through some hard times too.’

“At the reunion, there was a lot of negativity about the way we ended, but we ended things mutually, and that’s what I was so confused about…

Mutual!

Mutual! “At the reunion, there was a lot of negativity about the way we ended, but we ended things between ourselves, and that’s what I was so confused about…” Adrienne admitted

Eh? “And then, at the reunion, it was like, 'I'm going to blame you for all of this,' and I was like, 'Wow. We ended this mutually,” like what? I was so confused,” the reality star continued

“And obviously at that time I was also hurting from the news at home and trying to adjust back to normality, so I didn’t speak to Matt until our wedding day was broadcast.”

In scenes aired on the show, Matt and Adrienne clashed over their opposing views on children – with the former wanting to have children and the latter not.

In the last week of the experiment, when the topic of starting a family came up, Matt said, “Is there any reason why we shouldn’t work on the outside? We want to travel, we want to do things. One day I would like to have children.’

Adrienne turned serious and replied, “I think we’re in a great place and I think the world is yours.” But I’m concerned that you do want children. I’ve always said, ‘I don’t want them.’

“And I’ve never met anyone that made me want to change that answer.” Matt looked disappointed and replied, “Ummm…do you think this can be changed?”

The couple split after final vows, and after the reunion show, Matt and Shona Manderson confirmed their secret relationship, after meeting on MAFSUK.

Matt married Adrienne on the show, while Shona married Brad Skelly, but their respective romances both ended, leading to their union.

She revealed: ‘We have a very healthy, happy, safe, fun relationship – I really appreciate Matt, it’s what I deserve, we deserve each other.’

Matt admitted they ‘had to be so careful’ to keep their romance a secret and while it would have been ‘incredible’ to have been linked from the start, he admitted: ‘I think it was for a purpose on this way happened.’

Shona continued: ‘I’m proud to be his girlfriend and it just works. Matt would be driving and I would be in the back, we would be walking through Nottingham and I would be all the way there, we were like secret agents on a mission’.

Matt added: ‘We had to do it, we had to be so careful… We had to do what we had to do, my experience was good, but we were meant to go on those trips to find each other… .

“It would have been incredible to be together from the beginning, but I think it happened this way for a purpose.”
