Married At First Sight bride claps back at John Aiken after the relationship expert tells her to lower her standards
Married At First Sight New Zealand star Stephanie Archer recently expressed her frustrations with relationship expert John Aiken in a now-deleted TikTok video.
In the video, the 31-year-old bride expressed her frustration with Aiken’s advice, which she said criticized her for having too many criteria for a partner.
“Does anyone else feel like John told me to lower my standards?” she asked her followers.
Stephanie, who is partnered with Piripi Clarke, 28, further discussed how she felt constantly criticized.
“I just think as a society we place so many expectations on women and when they ask for the exact same thing in return, we tell them their ‘list’ is too long,” she explained.

“It’s not a woman’s fault that they expect a man to adhere to the same standards that society places on them,” she continued.
After the video, Stephanie clarified her stance on Instagram on Monday, saying, “Whoopsies… Just to be clear, John is great at what he does.”
Aiken previously told Steph, “I think it’s extremely important for you to know that in dealing with you, I have a list of criteria that must be met before a man can get up there. If you hold on to that too tightly, you exclude everyone.’

“The number of people who have participated in these experiments and they say I have a list of ingredients that I must have, those people are doing poorly, not only in the experiment, but in love,” he said.
Aiken, who has appeared in every season of the Australian series since its inception, joined MAFS NZ to guide a new group of brides and grooms to love.
The former cricketer will star alongside sex therapist Jo Robertson, who will offer participants ‘practical strategies and conversations about chemistry, intimacy and affection’.

“I’m excited to be part of the new relaunch of MAFS NZ. After being involved with the Australian version for over a decade, I can now bring all my learnings and insights to Kiwi singles looking for love,” he shared.
‘MAFS NZ will deliver the similar mix of drama, love and relationship learning that audiences love. I think those who tune in will really invest in the couples and watch with interest as they navigate all the challenges.”
