Mark Zuckerberg nags ‘Elon isn’t serious’ about MMA fight

The world’s nerdiest pre-match billionaire trash talk continues as Mark Zuckerberg whines ‘Elon doesn’t mean it’ as Musk declares ‘Maybe you’re a modern day Bruce Lee and you’ll somehow win’

Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg has accused Elon Musk of wasting his time and never being “serious” about participating in a much-hyped cage fight.

The maverick Tesla boss, 52, has repeatedly mocked and spoken about the fight against Zuckerberg, 39, on his social media site, which was recently renamed from Twitter to X.

He also claimed that it could soon take place in a high-profile location in Italy.

However, Zuckerberg on his rival social media site Threads issued cold water to the claims, writing, “I think we can all agree that Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on.”

The Meta boss accused his fellow mogul of waiting for some time after Musk apparently texted to ask for a “practice run” and indicated he had a mild shoulder ailment.

Zuckerberg explained, “I was offered a real date. (UFC President) Dana White volunteered to make it a legitimate bout for charity.

Elon doesn’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice run in my backyard instead.

“If Elon is ever serious about a real date and an official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise time to move on. I’m going to focus on competitions with people who take the sport seriously.’

Zuckerberg had expressed his frustration again hours earlier, writing, “I love this sport (UFC) and I have been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me.

“If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear from me. Until then, assume that everything he says is not agreed upon.’

On Friday morning, Musk tweeted that his confrontation with Zuckerberg will take place at the Colosseum in Rome and it will be administered by their foundations.

Las Vegas was originally pitched as the possible location for a fantasy battle between Facebook billionaire Zuckerberg and X (formerly Twitter) chief Musk, but reports in June claimed the Coliseum could be an option.

According to TMZ, Zuckerberg was approached by Italy’s culture minister to stage his confrontation with Musk on Rome’s legendary battlefield, with the latter also tweeting, “A chance fight is taking place in the Colosseum.”

Rome’s Colosseum, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is Italy’s most iconic landmark, but it hasn’t received a mass audience for hundreds of years.
