Mark Wright gets his hands dirty on the site of his planned Majorca holiday home

No gym required on Thursday as fitness fanatic Mark Wright worked out on the rubble-strewn site of his planned Mallorca holiday home.

The television personality appeared to be taking matters into his own hands after firing the team of builders he had originally hired to tackle the project for “cutting corners.”

Having traveled to the Spanish island to personally oversee the project, the 36-year-old Wright launched into the heavy lifting with a group of friends.

Sporting a black T-shirt and matching shorts, the former TOWIE cast member hauled various materials onto the property as he strove to get the embattled project off the ground.

Obviously eager to get involved, Wright had no problem pitching in with the dirty work, seen lugging what appeared to be baseboards into the apartment he bought more than a year ago.

Wright spent 30 grueling hours traveling to Mallorca to renovate his flat in just three weeks after suffering a construction ‘nightmare’.

The TV presenter and a team of builders drove for two days and desperately took a ferry to their holiday apartment on the Spanish island.

Speaking at Heart Breakfast with the island’s Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, Wright detailed the disastrous scenario he had found himself in.

He explained that he bought the flat a year ago before handing it over to builders he didn’t know, but said they tried to ‘take shortcuts’ and created ‘problems’.

Wright, who works in real estate development, said he wasn’t happy with the look of the apartment, so he decided to travel there with a team of builders to do the work himself.

He explained: ‘I bought an apartment a little over a year ago and handed it over to builders I didn’t know, it wasn’t that I wasn’t happy with the look.

‘They just created a lot of trouble, they tried to cut corners. So I talked to another company and the price didn’t match what I had in mind, and I thought, DIY, I have to fix it myself.

Speaking about the long journey, he said: ‘I left two days ago. It is a long and ancient journey. What makes it longer is the fact that it is an island.

“If it was just Barcelona it would be fine, you have to take the ferry which is seven hours, but it ends up being 10 because we’ve been sitting here for an hour docked and we didn’t get out.”

Wright then revealed that he has just under three weeks to completely remove the existing “bad” work and renovate the floor, which is situated inside a hotel.

He said, ‘Not even finishing it, stripping what they’ve done, because it’s like just bad, and doing it myself.’ Right now it’s me, Jonny Boy and some of his men, and they have to get one or two of his men out in the week.

“Literally just over two and a half weeks and probably — this is not an exaggeration — probably realistically, if you have all hands on deck, a six-week job,” he added.

Jamie asked the TV personality what his wife Michelle Keegan had been doing to help with the ‘disaster’, to which the footballer joked that she just texted him asking if he had arrived yet.

Wright has also been detailing the ordeal on his Instagram page and also shared a video during the ride to give fans an update on the ‘nightmare’ situation.

In the clip, he explained that the apartment is in a hotel, which means they have to stop building ‘rightly’ when it opens to guests due to noise.

Speaking about the time constraints, he said: “Not me, I typically left it to the last minute looking for other options, so I didn’t have to go there, I didn’t manage to do it.”

‘So, three weeks before they open, I’m not in a van with Jonny boy… we’re driving to Mallorca.’

He admitted they have a big challenge ahead of them as it currently looks like a ‘bomb’ has hit him with tiles ‘falling off the wall’, saying they both have to fix what’s broken and do a ‘complete makeover’.

In an accompanying caption, he added: “Follow my stories to see how this journey unfolds!!
