Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan share a heartwarming moment as they lead his blindfolded mom and dad to their surprise 40th wedding anniversary

Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan gave a closer look at their family life when they threw a surprise party for his parents Carol and Mark Wright, Sr for their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Former The Only Way Is Essex stars Carol, 63, and Mark, Sr, 66, were blindfolded as they were led into the garden of Mark’s footballer brother Josh and his wife.

As television personality Mark and his actress wife Michelle, both 36, removed his parents’ blindfolds, the couple were the epitome of happiness as they saw their friends and family standing in front of a marquee.

Mark shared a video of the moment on Instagram on Monday, writing: “Yesterday we surprised mom and dad with a 40th wedding anniversary.

“After driving around for 40 minutes smelling where we were going, we ended up in the same place again. @joshwright4444 @holliekanewright garden haha. What a special day @bigmarkwright @carolwright1.’

Carol wrote in the comments section, “Was a very special day. My children have made us very proud, thought of everything. Thank you.’

In another clip shared on Mark’s Instagram Stories, Carol and Mark Sr were seen dancing together in the marquee.

Elsewhere, radio host Pat Sharpe took to his Instagram page to share a photo of Carol and Mark, Sr and their daughter Jess Wright performing karaoke at the party.

He captioned the image: “Happy 40th anniversary to our special friends.”

It comes after Mark, Sr shared a photo last week of him and Carol kissing to mark their upcoming birthday at the time.

He captioned the image: “Married 40 years next week and we still love each other as much as ever xxx.”

Meanwhile, Mark gave followers an update on his £3.5 million Essex mansion on Friday by revealing its huge garden and near-complete swimming pool.

The mansion, which Mark shares with his wife Michelle, has undergone a huge amount of work over the past year as they build their dream home from scratch.

The former TOWIE star took to his Instagram Stories on his home account to show off the progress.

While filming the work in the garden, Mark explained to his fans that the recent bad weather caused a pause in the completion of the pool.

He explained: ‘The constant rain means the grass is doing exceptionally well, but it means the pool had to come to a standstill as we obviously couldn’t tile – they wouldn’t stick while it was full of water. There was about two inches of water. we got it all out today.”

In one video, the workmen tile the top step of the pool. Mark then told his followers why they made this particular design choice.

The reality star said: “The reason we made a big deep staircase is because it’s almost like a little kid’s pool… Dogs, the kids can paddle around in it and we can sit on top of this… Love the design.”

During some video clips, Mark delivered the workmen cheese and coleslaw sandwiches and glazed orange squash while they were busy at work.

He also gave them plenty of words of encouragement and told the workmen that the patio looked ‘spotless’.

The last video clip shows the workmen cleaning Mark’s large windows to finish today’s work.

In the video, Mark commented, “These windows definitely needed cleaning. It has been a while.’

He also captioned the message with: “Appreciation message. These guys @primexcleaning work hard. Also cleaning @homehubgroup’s windows.’
