Mark Wahlberg returns to grocery store where he worked as a teen for just $3.65 an hour
Mark Wahlberg returned to Massachusetts earlier this week and quit his very first job — a Quincy, Mass Stop and Shop — where he was making just $3.65 an hour decades before amassing his reported $400 million fortune.
The 51-year-old actor – who recently opened up about his decision to move his family from Los Angeles to Las Vegas – shared video of the visit to his 22 million Instagram followers on Tuesday.
‘Where it all started – my first job!’ Wahlberg said in the caption of his post, tagging Stop and Shop, his Flecha Azul Tequila brand, his Performance Inspired Nutrition brand, his municipal sports performance brand, and Wahlburgers at Home, his family’s premium meat brand.
‘Okay. This is where the whole hustle started,” Wahlberg began in the video, wearing a pink and black camo hoodie, black jeans and white sneakers.
‘1988 I worked at this Stop and Shop on Newport Ave. in Quincy, but it was over there, they moved the store,” explains Wahlberg.

“I was packing groceries, $3.65 an hour, while getting my driver’s license down the street,” the actor continued.
“The same day I turned 17, I got my driver’s license, bought a $200 Pontiac LeMans s**t box at Lappen’s Auto Parts,” he added.
“We’re going to see if I can get my job back. Hey Paxton, ask Jeff, your dad, if I can get my job back,” adding that they need Flecha Azul and PI in the store, “the best products for all the cool Stop and Shop customers. Don’t forget it started here at Stop and Shop,” Wahlberg said before entering the store.

We see Wahlberg interacting with several customers and giving hugs to several employees, one of whom says, “This young man is bringing some good into the world.”
He takes selfies with a number of different employees and customers who are thrilled to see the superstar.
The actor shared another video from the store, in which he tells employees that they need his Flecha Azul Tequila and Performance Inspired Nutrition products.
One of his products in the store is the Wahlburgers at Home brand of hamburger patties.

He held up one of the Wahlburgers packages before seemingly speaking directly to his brother, Paul Wahlberg, who co-owns the Wahlburgers brand with Mark and their brother Donnie Wahlberg.
“Paul Wahl, I told you, we need the Wahlburgers home. At first you didn’t listen, but now you understand why. People should have their Wahlburgers when and where they want, it’s pretty amazing,” he added.
The actor also stopped by another local grocery store called Shaw’s, which his mother called “Star Market,” where they also sold Wahlburgers meat.
He posed for photos with employees and said that when he grew up, employees “took care of my mom every day.”
“She felt like she was the most important person in the world when she walked into Star Market because they gave her that love back,” he said.
The actor also recently opened up about moving his kids Ella, 19, Grace, 13, Michael, 17, and Brendan, 14 – with wife Rhea Durham, 44, to Las Vegas.
“It really gives the kids a chance to thrive. It simply has the best of both worlds. I know a lot of people, when they think of Las Vegas, they think of the Strip,” Wahlberg said.
“But just about 15, 20 minutes away there are a bunch of other great areas that are all about family and community,” he added.
