Mark Wahlberg offers to donate his THUMB to get injured Astros star José Altuve back on the field, as he is a “big fan” of second baseman and “Yankees favorite killer” Alex Bregman.
Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg is willing to make a monumental sacrifice to help the Houston Astros, or at least to see them beat the New York Yankees once again.
Wahlberg was attending the Astros’ season opener Thursday, in which they suffered an upset loss to the Chicago White Sox, when he said he would donate a thumb to injured superstar Jose Altuve.
“It’s going to have something to do with my favorite Yankee killers,” Wahlberg responded when asked how he would deliver the traditional “Play Ball!” call before the game on Thursday.
“I’m also willing to donate any of my thumbs to Jose Altuve for sure…I’m a big fan.”
Altuve is currently sidelined for an extended period of time after undergoing surgery for a broken thumb suffered during the World Baseball Classic.

Although Wahlberg is a Boston native and a lifelong outspoken Red Sox fan, he has found himself rooting for the Astros much more since they swept the Yankees in last season’s ALCS.
The A-list star also praised third baseman Alex Bregman, the Astros’ “Yankee killer.”
“He’s an incredible guy and he’s also my all-time favorite Yankee killer,” Wahlberg told reporters before the game.
‘I’ve been a big fan of yours for a while. We just became close friends.
‘I’m just here to support him. I was rooting for him the whole time, of course, when my Red Sox were out, you know, he was right on the Astros bandwagon. Of course, once the Yankees were wiped out, he became my favorite Yankee assassin.
“I’m a fan of the Astros,” Wahlberg continued. ‘Listen, I live in Nevada now, I’m a fan of real talent. And you know what? They have an amazing team, and he’s incredibly talented, but he’s also an amazing person, so I’m a huge fan of him, especially.
Walhberg and the rest of Houston’s fan base certainly hope the Astros can bounce back from last night’s loss that saw Andrew Vaughn’s tiebreaking ninth-inning two-run double lead Chicago to a 3-2 victory. about the defending World Series champions.
The Astros also had Houston native and three-time Grammy Award winner Megan Thee Stallion throw out the first pitch in Game 1 Thursday to kick off the celebration and title defense.
