Australia’s most wanted man was led to Sydney airport in handcuffs after he was arrested allegedly trying to flee the country on the hull of a yacht.

Mark Horne, 32, had been on the run for months when he was allegedly found hiding among fuel tanks and pipes on the Sy Lady Azzura at Cullen Bay marina in Darwin last Wednesday as the ship was leaving for a destination in Asia.

Horne is understood to have been wearing the same T-shirt in which he was arrested when NSW police officers escorted him through Sydney airport at around 6pm on Tuesday, following an expedition hearing in Darwin last week.

Bikie’s associate, from NSW, was on bail when police say they cut his electronic monitoring bracelet in October.

He is then believed to have fled Sydney by private plane from Bankstown Airport.

Police believe he flew into a regional airport before heading to Queensland.

Mark Horne, who was one of Australia’s most wanted fugitives, is shown escorted through Sydney airport by New South Wales police officers.

Horne, pictured being escorted by NSW police, had been the subject of a mass manhunt after he allegedly fled while on bail on charges of shooting and robbery.

His bail conditions included a requirement to report to police every day, not associate with any Rebels bikes, observe a 9 p.m. curfew, offer $50,000 collateral, and wear an ankle monitor.

Horne had allegedly left his home in Arncliffe, south Sydney, in an Uber at around 6:15am on 21 October and cut his anklet in the back seat before chartering the plane in Bankstown.

His disappearance led to a nationwide manhunt with the New South Wales Police in coordination with their counterparts in other states and at the federal level.

Horne will face court in Sydney on Wednesday.

NT Police Commander Matt Hollamby said last Wednesday’s arrest was an “excellent job” by a joint organized crime task force, which included the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, the Australian Border Force and the Federal Police.

Australian Border Force Commander Budhy Tanddo said it showed how well different agencies work together to combat organized crime.
