Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling on people to join her in protesting the impeachment of former President Donald Trump, after Trump himself refrained from doing so in his most recent statement.
The outspoken conservative, who this week spoke out for the defendants jailed on January 6 whom she calls political prisoners, issued the appeal hours after the historic indictment was sealed by a Manhattan grand jury.

His comment comes as members of the NYPD were preparing to counter any civil unrest, while Trump’s lawyers were negotiating with prosecutors to have him turn himself in for arrest and fingerprinting on Tuesday afternoon. Trump’s US Secret Service security detail is in negotiations with New York prosecutors and local law enforcement over his planned arrest in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Trump himself had demanded protests when he posted online on March 18, when he said his own arrest was imminent.

But in his angry statement Thursday night after news of the impeachment broke, Trump made no mention of the protests; instead, he vowed in an angry statement to “remove every one of these crooked Democrats out of office.”

House Republican Conference Speaker Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) called for leveraging the issue to boost Trump’s vote in November and called on people to “organize peacefully.”
