Marisa Tomei reportedly escaped a terrifying confrontation with some fans in New York on Monday night.
The Oscar winner, 58, saw the opening night of the off-Broadway play Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and was leaving the star-studded afterparty at the Chelsea Hotel when fans approached her for selfies, according to Page Six.
“Additional security was called in to contain the swarm of fans gathered outside the show’s afterparty,” a source told the outlet.
After the actress reportedly refused photos, fans became “angry” and “taunted” her as she continued to walk down the street, the insider said.
“Tensions reached a boiling point when Marisa Tomei left the party around midnight and tried to avoid the crowd by heading for her nearby car,” the source said.

“Security quickly intervened, brandishing Tasers, prompting at least one member of the crowd to call 911,” she added.
By the time police arrived, the situation had been resolved and the Spider-Man actress had already left the area, according to Page Six.

Among the stars who came to see the “unruly fans” were Dakota Johnson, Marc Jacobs, Mark Ruffalo, Patti LuPone, Natasha Lyonne, Michael Cera, Zawe Ashton, Ben Stiller and Sam Rockwell.
The performance comes after it was reported that Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid previewed the revival at the Lucille Lortel Theater.
The couple –– who rekindled their romance – recorded the play after spending an evening together following Gigi’s epic girls’ night out with Taylor Swift.
Danny and the Deep Blue Sea stars Parks & Rec’s Aubrey Plaza and Girls’ Christopher Abbott.
The piece is a revival of John Patrick Shanley’s 1983 work and features “solid performances” from Plaza and Abbott, per Variety.
