A man has offended shoppers after he was spotted eating raw chicken in a busy Westfield.

A disturbed customer saw the man take a bunch of drumsticks out of the supermarket packaging at the mall in Marion, south Adelaide.

She quickly snapped a picture of the man without shoes, wearing a shirt, biting into the raw meat.

A disturbed customer last week saw the man stuff a set of drumsticks straight out of the packaging from Westfield supermarket in Marion, south Adelaide.

The photo was uploaded to Reddit, where social media users quickly shared their disgust.

“The chicken may be raw, but it’s definitely cooked,” one wrote.

Another added: “Can someone please check if this man is still alive?”

‘Is that raw chicken? Please tell me the photo is deceptive and it is bits of ham rolled up or something,” a third person wrote.

Another social media user joked that the man may be short on time.

“He doesn’t have time to sit down to eat, put on shoes, or cook his dinner. Few understand this gravel set,” they wrote.

“I can smell the salmonella from here,” a second added.

Some thought the chicken lover might have a good reason for its unusual taste.

“He wants a week off from work,” one wrote.

“Someone is trying to get sick for a few days,” another wrote.

“If he’s trying to lose weight, this will probably work,” a third added.

Photos of the man (above) have been widely shared on social media with commenters debating whether the snack was just gross or part of a strategic plan to call in sick at work

Why you shouldn’t eat raw chicken

Poultry and raw meat can contain dangerous bacteria, including Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter and E. coli – all of which can cause food poisoning.

Symptoms of food poisoning include stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
