Today (9 November), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘S final wave of DLC available via the Booster course pass has been released, alongside a free update for all users that includes a crucial new feature to streamline online play.
Version 3.0.0 is now available for download and not only fixes a number of issues such as the explosive Bob-omb cars in Moonview Highway blowing up for some players, but not all online. A feature to host an online space has also been added. without any friends added Nintendo switch. Additionally, opening a room now generates a unique room ID, which can be shared with all players (whether or not you added them as a friend) so they can join in and race alongside you.
While you could previously race anyone in random online lobbies, hosting a private online session could be inconvenient as you had to be registered as friends on Switch with other racers before they could participate. Therefore, playing with a group of new people was not always quick and easy. This new addition should solve this problem for good.
Another major change has been made to seemingly deter players from sandbagging (a technique where players deliberately stay in the lower places so they are more likely to acquire powerful items). The patch notes specifically state: “It has been fixed that you cannot obtain strong items if you take an Item Box by stopping or reversing, or taking an Item Box from the same location multiple times during a race. ”
In addition, all players will have access to a new ‘Music’ feature in the main menu, allowing you to listen to the music of any song in the game. That includes the DLC tracks, even if you haven’t purchased them Booster course pass.
With this latest wave of DLC, there are now 96 tracks to race on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which certainly contributes to maintaining its longevity. To see the other changes made in the free version update, you can check out the full patch notes.
