Marilyn Manson settles rape lawsuit a week before he was due to go to trial: Jane Doe victim says she was bullied into dropping case after facing him in ‘aggressive’ seven hour deposition

Marilyn Manson has settled a lawsuit with a woman who accused him of rape.

The singer, whose real name is Brian Warner, was accused in the 2021 lawsuit of raping the woman and threatening to “hit her in the head” if she reported him.

She alleged in the lawsuit that the abuse occurred in 2011 and that Manson also deprived her of food, sleep and a sense of security.

The settlement reached Wednesday in California Superior Court came just days before the case was expected to go to trial next week.

In a statement to Rolling stonesaid the woman named Jane Doe in the lawsuits: “I was fully prepared for the trial and never in a million years thought I would ever settle, but for the past two and a half years I have silently endured threats and harassment. , intimidation and various forms of intimidation that have increased in recent weeks.

Marilyn Manson has been accused of abuse by more than a dozen women, but denies the allegations

“Marilyn Manson attended my deposition and I was forced to answer aggressive questions for seven hours while he stared at me from across the table. I was told that this almost never happens because it is cruel, and that the main reason for this is to intimidate and inflict emotional distress on a victim.

‘I never cared about money and just wanted justice, but if we had gone to trial I could have lost my right to anonymity and been blamed on a large and public scale.

“Most importantly, I could have risked losing the freedom to tell my story, and that is worth more than anything in the world.”

Manson’s attorney, Howard King, said: “Brian is pleased that, just as previous lawsuits were dropped without payment or settled on pennies on the dollar, this plaintiff has now agreed to drop her lawsuit in exchange for an insurance payout which represents a fraction of her income. demands and much less than the cost for Brian to appear in court.’

The development is Manson’s second court settlement this year, after reaching a new settlement in January Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco, who accused him of sexual assault, abuse and human trafficking.

Bianco, 41, claimed Manson raped and abused her while they were dating in 2011, and kept her locked in a bedroom in his West Hollywood apartment to prevent her from fleeing.

She also claimed that Manson took control of her life and would not let her eat or sleep without his permission, but Manson denied the allegations, calling them “distorted stories that bear no resemblance to reality.”

Bianco claimed that Manson tricked her into leaving London for Los Angeles with the promise of working on projects, but was instead locked in his home where he had control over her. Manson (pictured with Bianco in London) denied the allegations

In her lawsuit filed in April 2021, Bianco alleged that Manson regularly verbally abused her, deprived her of sleep and food, bitten, cut and electrocuted her without her consent; and raped her during their two years together.

The lawsuit said Manson approached her while she was in London and used “fraudulent offers of film and music video roles to convince Ms. Bianco to travel to Los Angeles, at which point Mr. Warner then threatened violence and performed violent sexual acts against Ms. Bianco she didn’t agree to.’

She also claimed that Manson made her work for free, cooking for him and cleaning his apartment.

Manson denied the allegations, with his lawyer claiming that Bianco first approached the singer for money before filing the lawsuit.

“To be clear, this lawsuit was only filed after my client refused to let Ms. Bianco and her attorney beat her down and give in to their outrageous financial demands, based on conduct that simply never occurred,” King said.

Bianco is one of 15 women who claim Manson abused them, including his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood. She accused the singer of grooming her since she was a teenager and abusing her for years.

Following Wood’s allegations, Manson wrote on Instagram: ‘Obviously my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are terrible distortions of reality.

‘My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others now choose to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”

Manson filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood and her girlfriend, Illma Gore, over what he calls “malicious” and “false” sexual abuse allegations that “derailed his successful music, TV and film career.”

After the slew of allegations against him, Manson was dropped by his record label and by the Creative Arts Agency.

Both women have denied the allegations, with Gore defending Wood as the West World actress spoke about her alleged abuse under Manson in the HBO documentary Phoenix Rising.

The two-part series, which premiered on HBO last March, details Wood’s claims about Manson’s abuse and lobbies for passage of the Phoenix Act, which would extend the statute of limitations for domestic violence cases in California.

But while he is embroiled in lawsuits with Wood and Gore, Manson did see a legal victory last week after a judge dismissed a lawsuit by ex-girlfriend Ashley Morgan Smithline, who also accused the singer of abuse.

Smithline’s claims include that she was sexually assaulted by Manson several times, that he cut her with a knife with a swastika despite her being of Jewish descent, shoved his fist in her mouth during sex, forced her to enter into a blood pact, and was imprisoned. every time she made him angry, to a soundproof room called ‘the bad girl room’.
