Mariah Carey’s sister Alison’s tragic dying wish revealed as friends slam the singer for not helping during her final days

Mariah Carey’s estranged sister Alison hoped she could repair the fractured relationship with her younger brother and megastar as she lay on her deathbed.

Alison’s friend and health care representative, David Baker, told DailyMail.com that family members were aware that Alison had been under hospice care for the past month at her apartment in the small town of Coxsackie, New York – just 24 miles south of Albany.

However, the “Vision of Love” singer never called to ask how her dying sister was doing, Baker said.

“Alison was hurt by the way she was treated by her mother and Mariah, but she always had mixed feelings about her mother,” Baker told DailyMail.com exclusively. “But I know it was her dying wish to at least have a conversation with Mariah.”

On Monday, Mariah confirmed that her mother, Patricia, and Alison had passed away.

“I am heartbroken that I lost my mother this past weekend,” Mariah said in a statement to People. “Sadly, in a tragic twist, my sister passed away on the same day.”

Friends said Alison Carey’s dying wish was to reconnect with her superstar sister as her condition continued to deteriorate over the past month while she remained in a hospice.

She continued, “I feel blessed to have been able to spend the last week with my mother before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Baker confirmed that Mariah never called Alison while she was in hospice, but that Alison’s four adult children have visited her at her Coxsackie apartment over the past month.

Mariah has been candid about her estrangement from her older sister, who had struggled with drug addiction for years.

In her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, the singer called Alison her ā€œex-sisterā€ and claimed that Alison had tried to get her to do drugs and ā€œgave her a heart attack.ā€ [her] with third-degree burns when she was a pre-teen.

“When I was 12, my sister gave me Valium, gave me a pinky nail full of cocaine … and tried to sell me to a pimp,” Mariah wrote in her memoir. “Something inside me was arrested by all that trauma. That’s why I often say, ‘I’m forever 12.’ I’m still struggling with that time.”

Mariah said she ultimately made the decision to cut Alison out of her life so she would no longer be “an accomplice.”

The estrangement was extremely painful for Alison, Baker said.

“It hurt because Mariah called Alison her ex-sister,” Alison’s friend told DailyMail.com. “She was looking after Mariah and taking care of her. When that came out, she couldn’t believe Mariah had done that because she wasn’t speaking to her, and now she’s kicking Alison in the face while she’s already on the ground.”

Alison was a recovering drug addict who had worked as a prostitute in New York to make ends meet. In 1990, she was diagnosed with HIV, although Baker questions the accuracy of that diagnosis.

Alison got into more and more trouble and was arrested in 2016 in Saugerties, New York, on suspicion of prostitution.

On Tuesday, Baker confirmed to DailyMail.com that Alison did not die of cancer or HIV. He would not reveal the exact cause of death, but said Alison died early Saturday morning of “internal organ failure.”

Baker said he found Alison unconscious around midnight Saturday. A nurse was called, who confirmed the 63-year-old had died.

ā€œShe was taking medications to help herself feel comfortable, but there was no indication that she was feeling stressed or in pain,ā€ Baker said.

The friend said that Alison’s four children visited her a few weeks before her death.

In a heartbreaking 2016 interview with DailyMail.com, Alison made an impassioned appeal to her famous brother, begging for financial support as she struggled with health issues following a devastating 2015 home invasion that left her brain damaged.

Since that attack, Alison had been in and out of the hospital.

ā€œMariah, I love you, I really need your help,ā€ she told Mariah in the 2016 interview. ā€œPlease don’t leave me like that.ā€

Baker, who has been Alison’s advocate and health care representative for the past nine years, said the 63-year-old woman has been sober for more than three years, but her health continues to decline.

Before moving into her apartment in a small town in upstate New York, Alison lived in a facility where she underwent physical rehabilitation.

Alison often wondered if her famous sibling would ever contact her as she clung to the final weeks of her life. Baker said his girlfriend of nine years was barely conscious for the last two weeks or so before she died Saturday.

Baker strongly criticized the singer and the prepared statement released after the deaths of the two women.

“It was horrible because it was all about her,” Baker said. “In her eyes, it’s all about Mariah and never about anyone else.

“If she cared about her, she would have talked to Alison when she knew she was dying. Mariah has been like that for a long time. She does everything to get attention and is always looking for publicity.”

Mariah also became estranged from her mother, who was an opera singer, at one point.

The Honey singer wrote in her memoir that her mother’s jealousy of her successful career may have caused a lot of tension in their relationship.

‘[That jealousy] ā€œIt’s part of success, but when that person is your mother and the jealousy comes at such a young age, it’s extra painful,ā€ she wrote of Patricia.

Carey’s mother reportedly lived in a nursing home in West Palm Beach after Mariah sold her mother’s Westchester County, New York, home that she had purchased for her in the 1990s.

Although their relationship was rocky, Mariah and Juliard-trained opera singer Patricia appeared in Christmas specials with her famous daughter.

Meanwhile, Mariah remained estranged from her siblings.

Both Alison and Mariah’s older brother Morgan, 64, had previously taken legal action against their younger sister over what they called “cruel and outrageous allegations” in her book.

In an interview with DailyMail.com in March 2016, Morgan said that Alison inherited $1.6 million from her father Alfred Carey when he died in 2002.

A trust fun was organised for Alison’s children, but Alison continued to struggle with the mounting medical bills.

She squandered the rest of the money on her drug addiction, Morgan said.

Baker said Alison was honest about her problems, but still hoped to one day make amends with her family, especially Mariah.

‘[Alison] “She was a very intelligent and very sensitive person who had a very difficult time in her life,” Baker said. “She had a lot of obstacles in her life from a very young age, and I don’t think most people could go through something like that and not be affected by it.

‘[Mariah] called her an ex-sister, which was a nasty comment and [Alison] never got over it. She kept rejecting her, as if there was anything she could do to change that. No matter what happens, she’ll always be her sister.’
