Mariah Carey’s, 54, ex Bryan Tanaka, 40, CONFIRMS their breakup after seven-year romance and says the decision to part ways was ‘mutual’

Mariah Carey's ex Bryan Tanaka has finally confirmed their divorce after the couple was followed by a swarm of breakup rumors.

Last week, reports began circulating that Mariah had broken up with Bryan, who started out as one of her backup dancers.

A source inquired Page six that they went their separate ways because he wants to have children and she doesn't.

Bryan, 40, posted an Instagram post on Tuesday officially announcing that he and Mariah, 54, had ended their relationship after seven years.

He claimed their separation was “amicable” and “mutual” and expressed his “overwhelming sense of gratitude for the priceless time we shared.”

'Dear friends and fans,” he began his long message: “It is with mixed feelings that I share this personal update on my amicable divorce from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together.”

He emphasized, “Our decision to follow different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with deep respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the priceless time we have shared.”

In a warm tribute to their years together, he added: “The memories we created and the artistic collaborations are forever etched in my heart.”

He continued, “Mariah's dedication to her family and her dedication to her craft have inspired us throughout our shared journey. I want to express my love and appreciation for Maria and her incredible children, whose warmth and kindness have enriched my life in ways that cannot be expressed in words.”

In his closing paragraph, he implored the audience: “During this sensitive time, I kindly ask for your understanding, privacy and respect.”

Bryan continued, “The outpouring of love and support from fans has been a beacon of strength, and I am deeply grateful for the encouragement that continues to lift me up. I eagerly look forward to continuing my journey, knowing that my passion for inspiration, dance and the creative arts will resonate throughout the unfolding chapters.”

The dashing professional dancer signed off his farewell message: “With #MuchLove and gratitude” and concluded with his name.

Last week, breakup rumors gained momentum when Mariah took her annual Christmas trip to Aspen without Bryan, who has usually accompanied her in recent years.

Speculation was already mounting when an insider broke the news to Page Six last Wednesday and shed some light on the reasons.

Noting that there is a fourteen-year age difference between the longtime couple, the source explained, “He wants to start a family. That's not where she is.'

Although Bryan does not have any children yet, Mariah is already a mother of two and has 12-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan with her ex Nick Cannon.

Bryan and Mariah haven't been seen together since March, when he posted an Instagram photo of the two to wish her a happy birthday.

Meanwhile, Bryan has not been seen on Mariah's Instagram page for almost a whole year – his most recent appearance there dates back to Boxing Day 2022.

Mariah is currently in Aspen, indulging in a little relaxation after one of her extensive Christmas concert tours, which have become a holiday tradition.

During a concert earlier this month at Madison Square Garden, she went viral for bringing both Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson on stage.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that Bryan was also not seen with Mariah as she traveled around for her Christmas tour this year.

In years past, fans could see Bryan dancing on stage during Mariah's Christmas shows, but this holiday season he wasn't part of the program.

Bryan and Mariah have known each other since 2006, when he worked as one of the backup dancers on her Adventures Of Mimi tour.

Over the next decade, Mariah married and divorced steamy comedian Nick Cannon, with whom she shares Monroe and Moroccan.

After her divorce from Nick, Mariah embarked on a whirlwind engagement to Australian billionaire James Packer, which broke up in 2016.

She started dating Bryan later in 2016, and with the exception of a brief breakup in 2017, they remained together ever since until this year's rumored breakup.

Although they rarely discussed their relationship in public, Bryan did open up about their connection E! News in 2016, shortly after they first got together.

“There used to be something connected between us and just a mutual admiration,” the stage performer said.

'She saw something in me that I didn't recognize at first, but from that moment on it was over. It was a given in history that we would be connected in some way.”
