Although she is synonymous with all things festive, Mariah left many people feeling lacking in holiday spirit, with some criticizing the artist for not even trying.
A clip shared by X-user Dr. Jebra Faushay showed the singer dressed in a glittery Nutcracker costume singing her iconic tune – All I Want For Christmas – noting that she missed a few moves and some clothing.
In the clip, Carey can be seen singing the famous song, wearing sky-high silver heels and a skimpy Christmas nutcracker costume.
As she moves stiffly across the stage, her backup dancers dance enthusiastically around her.
The iconic song immediately brings a festive feeling to most, but some critical social media users were not happy with the star's performance.
“I haven't seen Mariah Carey perform in years!” Faushay wrote sarcastically. 'I love her pants. And her dancing is good.'
Other people are also not warmed by the Christmas atmosphere
“When you have so much money, fame and ego that you don't even have to try anymore,” one user commented.

Carey sold out all 16 shows of her Merry Christmas One and All tour
While some social media users criticized the singer, others defended her performance
'Zero rehearsal. She could give two effs,” another replied.
Other Carey fans pointed out that she has been performing for ages, arguing that she has earned the right to take it slow.
“Y'all understand she's 54, right?! What she does on stage seems very appropriate for her age. At least she's not trying so hard to keep up with the younger generation like Madonna!' they joked.
“After over thirty successful years in the industry… she has earned it and has every right to be a diva,” another added.
According to Forbes, Carey has earned a whopping $60 million in royalties since the song was first released in 1994 nearly three decades ago.
In addition, according to calculations by The Economist, she also rakes in no less than $2.5 million in annual royalties.
And in addition to performances in California and New York, she also performed in cities such as Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore for the remaining dates.
Despite online criticism, Carey's Christmas tour was successful, with 16 sold-out arena shows.
Although she doesn't wear a sexy Nutcracker costume every day, Carey likes to dress up for the holidays.
Carey recently told Vogue how she dresses for the holidays.
“My idea of holiday wear has always been about glamorous styles that really complement the season in a fun and festive way,” she told the outlet.
The singer continued, “I love selecting looks that feel like their own party moment.”
