Mariah Carey RESPONDS to fan claims her 2024 Spotify Wrapped video was AI generated: ‘This isn’t real’

Mariah Carey has responded to suspicions that a recently released video message of hers was generated by AI.

This week, the 55-year-old music icon released a 2024 Spotify Wrapped video in which she thanked fans for streaming her songs and promised to share new music soon.

The short clip shows Mariah, who shares 13-year-old twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon, wearing the red, fur-trimmed onesie she wore on the cover of her 1994 Christmas album.

She was dimly lit and wore a bold red lip as she delivered her message in front of twinkling Christmas trees.

But fans online were quick to point out that the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Christmas’ seemed a little too perfect, likening her subtle movements and carefully enunciated words to artificial intelligence.

“I don’t know if this is AI or if there’s a gun pointed at her…” wrote a fan on X in response to a fan account that shared the clip.

One fan added to the thread, “It looks like AI omg,” with a sobbing emoji

Another added to the thread: “It looks like AI omg,” while someone else simply wrote: “This looks like AI HAHA.”

One fan defended the singing sensation, writing on the social media platform: “It’s not AI, she’s just reading something behind the camera that gives off creepy vibrations (you can tell by the eye movements).”

Someone else weighed in, “no way you guys think it isn’t.”

Mariah joined in to give her answer, saying, “Bad lighting and a red lip y’all think this is AI?” There’s a reason I’m not a fan of these things!’

Referring to the Massachusetts stop of her Christmas Time tour, the hitmaker added: “About to celebrate #Christmastime with my Boston #lambily.”

There were also those who supported Carey’s claim that she had indeed recorded the video herself.

“It must be hard to be so beautiful that no one believes you are real,” one person wrote.

“It’s really her, she’s just reading the teleprompter,” another supporter added to the conversation.

The Fantasy hitmaker is currently performing on stages across the country as she performs her Christmas Time tour.

The tour was announced in August and celebrates the 30th anniversary of her timeless holiday hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The first show was on November 6 in Highland, California, and the final concert is scheduled for December 17 in Brooklyn.

Mariah’s set list is completed with 26 songs and the concert lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Audiences will enjoy renditions of the superstar’s biggest, most recognizable songs, as well as Christmas classics.

It has become common for Carey to promote her mid-1990s Christmas album during the last two months of the year.

The lead single is ubiquitous around the holidays as fans push it back to the top of the charts year after year.

On Thursday night, Mariah connected with her nearly 14 million Instagram followers to promote the latest edition of her Christmas album.

She posted the original album cover, which featured her in a snowy scene, and wrote a thoughtful caption.

‘The deluxe digital edition of my Merry Christmas album is now out! You know I don’t know numbers, but I’m very proud to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this album. “I’m so grateful to all my fans who spent many of their Christmases with these songs,” she said.

She added: ‘The album is now available with a new remastering of my 1994 concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

‘I hope you enjoy listening, and I hope we spend many more holidays together! Merry Christmas, xoxo M.”
