Carey and Tanaka first met in the mid-2000s and he joined her as a backup dancer on her Adventures of Mimi tour, which took place in 2006.

Carey has long been dubbed the Queen Of Christmas by fans for her frenzy of Christmas-themed projects in a new interview with W Magazine, the top singer explained that it was her “messed up” childhood that promoted her love of the holidays.

“I know people often say, ‘Oh, yay! Look at her! She’s so festive and such a Christmas girl or whatever. But really, Christmas makes me happy,” Carey explained to the magazine.

“If you grow up with a messed up life and you are able to go through this transformation where you can make your life the way you want it to be? That is joy to me. That’s why I want my kids to have everything they can have. I want them to understand that they can be anything they want to be.”

Carey often tries to involve her 11-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon, in her many holiday-themed projects, including appearing together at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on Thursday, as well as last year.

The star made her sparkling return to the 96th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday after a seven-year absence.

The singer was in her element as she sang All I Want For Christmas Is You to the crowd in Manhattan, wearing a red dress and sparkling tiara.

However, the star, who previously landed in hot water for dodgy miming, was once again accused of “blatant lip syncing” when fans noticed her impeccable vocals sounded extremely similar to the recorded version of the 1994 song.

One fan wrote, “Mariah Carey’s lip sync always SENDS me because it’s so blatant. Like she’s not even trying to hide it.’

Another typed, “So @MariahCarey isn’t singing anymore? Smh” while a third typed, “I wish I could get paid to look cute lip-syncing like Mariah Carey… that girl didn’t sing one note.”
