Margot Robbie’s beloved London nightclub Infernos re-homes fish kept in a tank next to its dancefloor after backlash from animal rights activists

A London nightclub loved by one of Hollywood's biggest names has been forced to relocate its residents after complaints from animal rights activists.

Infernos nightclub, in Clapham, with its glittering lights and retro decor, has been forced to rehouse its fish, which were kept in a tank next to the dance floor.

It comes after a video went viral on TikTok with the caption: 'No matter how bad your life is, remember you are not a fish living in Infernos'.

The club was criticized by animal rights activists, accusing her of 'animal cruelty' for keeping the fish in a loud and bright environment.

Now the venue has confirmed that the fish have been rehomed and are 'extremely happy' in their 'new environment'. The Telegraph reports.

It is not known whether the fish stay together or are separated.

Actress Margot Robbie previously shared her love of the nightclub after living in London in her twenties with a group of friends and now husband Tom Ackerley.

Robbie spent time in South London in a four-bedroom shared house before moving to a more luxurious place in the US.

In an interview with Capital FM's Sian Welby, she admitted that she once inquired about hiring out Infernos for a birthday dinner with friends, but at the time they said no.

Infernos has been welcoming partygoers since the 1980s, after it was converted from a recording studio to a nightclub.

It was also the setting for the famous club scene in The Inbetweeners Movie, where Will, Simon, Jay and Neil try to impress a group of girls with their dancing.

The RSPCA supported the views of animal activists, saying that 'bright lights, loud music and a large number of people' make venues such as nightclubs a bad environment for an animal.
