Margot Robbie reveals she thought she’d go to jail for assaulting her co-star
Margot Robbie feared she would be arrested after ‘slapping’ Leonardo DiCaprio during an audition for The Wolf of Wall Street.
The Australian star revealed that the scene they were rehearsing was meant to end in a kiss, but she spontaneously thought of something more dramatic.
DiCaprio’s last line was, “Come here and kiss me.”
“And in my head I thought, ‘I could totally kiss Leonardo DiCaprio. That would be amazing,'” Robbie recalled during an episode of the Talking Pictures podcast. “I can’t wait to tell all my friends about this.”
“And then I thought… no. And just punched him in the face.
“And it was dead silence for what felt like an eternity, but it was probably three seconds,” the actress, who was 22 years old at the time, said.

‘And then they burst out laughing. Leo and Marty (director Martin Scorsese) were laughing so hard they said, “That was great.”
Despite that positive feedback, Margot immediately feared the worst about her wild improvisation.
“I was like, ‘You’re going to get arrested, I’m pretty sure it’s assault,'” she thought at the time.
“Not only will you never work again, but you’re actually going to jail for this, you idiot. And also: why did you have to make it so difficult? You could have done it lighter.’
It comes after the stunning actress revealed she got Di Caprio to watch some episodes of Neighbours; the Aussie soap where she got her start.
The blonde bombshell said: “When I started [The] Wolf [of Wall Street]Leo and Martin Scorsese had heard of Neighbors and knew what it was, but they hadn’t seen any episodes.
“So he went to YouTube and watched some videos.”
Margot played Donna Freedman on the soap from 2008 to 2011.
