Brad Pitt told Margot Robbie ‘you’re like a Barbie’ in August 2019 during a surfaced interview on the YouTube channel Jackseptic eye.
The duo co-starred in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and did press events together.
The 59-year-old actor turned to 33-year-old Margot and told her, “You’re like a Barbie,” to which she said no, not Barbie,” jokingly nodding no.
The interview resurfaced just before Greta Gerwig’s Barbie the Movie arrived in theaters – with Margot as the title character Barbie.
Barbie the Movie will be released on July 21, and critics have already praised the movie, calling it “dazzling” and “one of the most entertaining movies of the year.”

In the August 2019 interview with Jacksepticeye, he asked Brad and Margot what they do after they’re out of the spotlight.
Brad said he enjoyed spending time with friends and family and being calm after filming: …. ‘We can do our work in a fairly closed environment and there is a lot of free time and a lot of time with friends and family.. .. which you know I’ve always… or I’ve come to feel that life comes first and work will follow. And it’s not that crazy, but it’s really just barbecues like everyone else…’
He turned around, looked at Margot and said “you like a Barbie, you like a,” he said in reference to a barbecue, but it seemed to be a pun on her newly signed role as Barbie.
She joked back, “No barbie. A shrimp on the Barbie.’
Brad grinned as he made the joke – in reference to her upcoming role of Barbie – having just signed on seven months prior to the interview.

Margot was in talks to play Barbie back in October 2018 and signed on to the project in early January 2019.

Greta signed on to officially direct Barbie in July 2021; however, she had been attached to the film since 2019 and helped with the project’s creative vision.
Ryan Gosling was cast as Ken in fall 2021, with additional cast members Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, and America Ferrera joining in early 2022.
Filming began in March 2022 in London at the Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios and ended in Summer 2022; reshoots were done in April 2023.
Margot serves as the film’s producer along with her husband LuckyChap Entertainment’s Tom Ackerley.
Other producers involved in the project include Josey McNamara, David Heyman and Ynon Kreiz of Mattel and Robbie Brenner.
The project was Sony’s first with Amy Schumer in the title role; that film’s release date was supposed to be in 2018, but she dropped out of the project in 2017 due to scheduling conflicts.
After Amy’s departure, Anne Hathaway was considered.
In October 2018, Sony’s option for the Barbie project expired and was transferred to Warner Brothers.

Margot, who grew up in Queensland, Australia People magazine: ‘I personally didn’t have one that I can remember. My sister did and I remember my cousin did. I was supposed to play with my cousin, but I wasn’t much of a Barbie girl as a kid.”
