Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi appear as lovers in romantic Chanel No5 advert… after divisive Wuthering Heights casting
Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have appeared together on screen as lovers in a new Chanel advert following their casting in Wuthering Heights.
The Hollywood stars, who both worked on Saltburn, have been named as the new faces of Chanel No5 and have marked their new venture with a romantic new advert.
The luxury French fashion house on Monday unveiled the fragrance commercial See You at 5, which stars Australian stars Margot, 34, and Jacob, 27, as lovers.
The clip, directed by Luca Guadagnino, opens with Margot looking as glamorous as ever in a black dress as she sits on a window seat and checks her phone.
With a knowing smile, she writes a message that reads: ‘See you at five o’clock’, while Margot’s voice whispers the words, which also form the title of the short film.
The Barbie actress, who will soon star as Jacob’s romantic lead in Wuthering Heights, then dons an elegant red two-piece suit and Chanel No5, ready for her date.
She looks effortlessly chic in a red cropped jacket and matching miniskirt with Chanel’s iconic details and gold buttons as she steps into a luxury car.
Margot gives herself a few extra inches in a pair of simple black heels to complete her look, as footage shows her driving a convertible through the hills of California.
The scene then shifts to Jacob, looking as dashing as ever in a white T-shirt and smart pants as he grins as he receives the text from Margot.
The commercial then cuts to a breathtaking shot of Margot standing on a balcony overlooking the vast ocean as she awaits Jacob’s arrival.
Margot then dives into the water, wearing a red halter neck swimming costume, while Jacob stands on a balcony and subtly grins.

The pair never appear on screen together, and their love story remains ambiguous, as it remains to be seen if they will ever be united for their tryst.
Chanel shared the ad on Instagram, teasing in a caption: “A woman… In the new N°5 film, See You at 5, Luca Guadagnino’s lens follows Margot Robbie along the roads of California.”
‘The Story of Two Lovers’ lacked connections that led a woman to her destiny. Will there be an appointment at the end of the trip? Or is the rendezvous itself the journey?’
Fans quickly took to the comments section to praise the commercial, as they shared their joy at the two Australian stars appearing on screen together.
One user wrote: ‘Two Aussies the faces of Chanel No. 5 – love it,’ while another said: ‘Australians look really good.’
Margot has been working with Chanel for six years, first as an ambassador for Chanel, while in 2019 she was also named as the face of Chanel’s Gabrielle perfume.

‘I think Chanel N°5 is one of the most iconic fragrances in the world. It’s incredible to be part of that,” Margot said of her latest appointment.
“There is such an impressive lineage of women who have been associated with the fragrance over the years. I am deeply honored to be part of that long list of incredible talent.”
Margot follows in the footsteps of other notable stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Brad Pitt, while Nicole Kidman was also known for fronting the brand’s iconic perfume in 2004.
Margot and Jacob’s work with Chanel comes ahead of their joint film project in an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic, Wuthering Heights.
In the upcoming Emerald Fennell release, Jacob will take on the lead role of Heathcliff, while Margot will portray his love interest Catherine Earnshaw.
However, the casting proved to be divisive among fans, as many disagreed with the two actors taking the lead roles.
Fans were surprised by the casting choice, noting that Catherine, who is no older than 19 in the novel, is played by 34-year-old Margot.
Meanwhile, Heathcliff, whose character is about 40 at the end of the story, is played by 27-year-old Jacob.
Some also took to social media to accuse producers of “whitewashing” the leading role of Heathcliff, who is described in the novel as “dark-skinned” and subjected to racist abuse.
Some fans also criticized the decision to use actors they say “belong on Instagram” in a period film set in the 19th century.
Others even wondered whether director Emerald, 38, who also directed Saltburn, has actually read Brontë’s classic novel.

Margot and Jacob are no strangers to collaboration, as the actress produced Saltburn in which Jacob starred, and she recently opened up about him in an interview.
She told me Harper’s Bazaar: ‘He’s great. And as you said, I worked with him on Saltburn in a producer and actor capacity.
“So I haven’t shared the screen with him before, but I know I’ve seen him on set, I’ve been on set with him, and he’s just… he has an incredible presence.
‘He’s a movie star, he’s got that charisma. He is holding a frame. He is also very sweet and is from the same state I am from, in Australia.
“We’re about an hour apart, but he’s from Brisbane, and I’m from the Gold Coast.”
Of the Chanel No5 campaign, she added: “Even though the whole point of our film is that we cross paths and miss each other, it still felt like we were doing the campaign together.”
