It comes after Margaret was promoting her critically acclaimed body horror film The Substance on The Tonight Show when she dropped some exciting casting news.
The actress was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last month, where she was asked about a rumor that she would star in the upcoming comedy sequel Happy Gilmore 2.
“The rumors are true,” said Margaret cheerfully, admitting, “It was the best thing that ever happened to me.’
She did admit, “It’s just a small part. I basically have a deep background, but I can die happy now.”
It turns out that her husband, music producer Jack Antonoff, assisted… by lying to Adam Sandler via text message.
‘I saw that there was an announcement, for example: there will be a Happy Gilmore 2. And I immediately emailed my agents. And I said, “Whatever it takes. No part is too small. Here you go! I have to be part of this. I’m begging you, please, whatever it takes,” she admitted.
Then at one point Adam texted Jack asking, “Does your wife play golf at all?’ He replied, “Yes, she’s actually good!”
Adam replied, “No way,” while Jack asked, “Are we talking ‘Gilmore’ or a charity golf tournament?”
Adam replied, “Gilmore. It might bother her for a few days, funny thing. She’d be great.’

It comes after Margaret revealed her husband Jack Antonoff lied to Adam Sandler so she could score a role in Happy Gilmore 2
Margaret admitted: ‘What a good husband. And I can’t play golf. He lied for the sake of the family. Yes.’
When asked about the experience of working with the Grown Ups star, Margaret said: “He’s the best. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.’
As for golf, she admitted, “I’ve never played golf a day in my life. I’m actually terrible.’
She added that she went into a barn for the first time to hit some golf balls and did take some lessons. “But I’m still bad most of the time.”
When asked about her experience with Adam, she said, “He’s the best. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.’
She added that Adam was her “first crush” and that the original 1996 comedy classic Happy Gilmore is her “favorite movie,” and that Sandler is “the greatest of all time.”
The original film followed the title character of Adam, a down-on-his-luck hockey player who discovers a hidden talent for driving a golf ball over 400 yards.
He joins the PGA Tour to try to win enough money to buy back his grandmother’s house.
The comedy – which also starred Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, the PGA Tour’s head of publicity, Christopher McDonald as Happy’s rival Shooter McGavin and Carl Weathers as Happy’s teacher Chubbs Peterson – earned $41 million from a $12 million budget.
