Marcus Rashford ‘will become Manchester United’s top earner with new £375,000-a-week deal…
- Manchester United hope to sign Marcus Rashford to a new contract
- According to reports, the striker will be offered a contract of £375,000 a week
- David de Gea’s future is less certain and he may be swapping salaries with Rashford
Marcus Rashford is poised to become Manchester United’s biggest earner on a staggering £375,000-a-week new contract, according to reports, as David de Gea faces a sizeable wage cut if he stays at Old Trafford this summer .
Rashford is expected to pledge his future to the club and put an extension on paper, with boss Erik ten Hag confident the striker is eager to stay.
However, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that United’s number 1 goalkeeper will sign new terms himself, despite his current contract expiring at the end of the month.
As reported by Mail sports, Ten Hag is hesitant to keep De Gea between the sticks as his first choice, preferring to sign another stopper to replace him. He was recently omitted from United’s retained list, suggesting a deal is far from close.
And even if he did stay, it would be on significantly reduced terms.

The sun claim that United will fund Rashford’s eye-watering pay raise through an effective salary swap with De Gea, who earns the £375k figure that Rashford will soon bank.
At the moment, Rashford earns a base £200,000 a week and has one year left on his contract after the club opted to activate a 12-month extension option.
De Gea has been paid the same amount, meanwhile a reduction of £175,000.
Insiders are said to have told the publication that the United hierarchy is relaxed about De Gea’s next move. If he agrees to the new deal, they argue, he will cover Rashford’s wage increase, but walking away would save the club more money.
Rashford’s looming pay raise would increase his salary by an additional £8.4 million a year over five seasons, underlining his importance to Ten Hag.
Sources claim the attacker sees his future at United, despite the lack of concrete updates during the negotiation process.

Conversely, De Gea remains in limbo and Mail Sport understands that United are now less optimistic that the 32-year-old will stay than they were earlier this year.
It is believed that the framework for a new deal was agreed some time ago, but Ten Hag is not convinced. One stumbling block is the valuation of players such as Inter Milan’s Andre Onana and Brentford’s David Raya, who are both worth around £40 million.
The club has faced a spending headache this summer and is working on a tighter budget due to Financial Fair Play requirements. They are also prioritizing other positions first, with a new striker and midfielder coveted by the manager.
Indeed, United have to sell players to fund signings and would prefer to commit De Gea to a new deal rather than spend an expensive replacement.
De Gea, who joined United in 2011, has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
