Marcus Rashford will miss ‘a few’ Manchester United games as he recovers from a muscle injury caused by a heavy blow to Erik ten Hag.

The striker went off in United’s 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday and will miss Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final, the first leg against Sevilla at Old Trafford and other key games on Thursday night.

United have said Rashford will be ‘unavailable for a few games’ but is expected to return for the run-up to the season.

The England international has found the net 28 times so far this season and it will be up to United’s other forwards to make up for the shortfall in the crucial games ahead.

He retired in the 80th minute of Saturday’s win and appeared to be pointing to his groin as he left the field and headed through the tunnel for treatment.

United are about to enter a critical phase of their campaign. They will receive Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday with the second leg in Spain next week.

In between, they head to the City Ground on Sunday to play Nottingham Forest as they try to maintain their top four position in the Premier League under pressure from Newcastle and Tottenham.

Next weekend, Ten Hag’s team will play against Brighton at Wembley in the semi-final of the FA Cup, before traveling to Spurs on Thursday. April 27th.
