Rashford was outplayed by Wout Weghorst towards the end of the first half and his shot went wide before going past Loris Karius in the Newcastle goal.
Sven Botman was originally unfortunate enough to have the effort given as an own goal, but the English as a foreign language they have since reversed this decision.
The Red Devils took the lead at Wembley when Casemiro headed home a brilliant cross from Luke Shaw.
United’s second goal then gave the Red Devils full control of the Carabao Cup final as they watched the game comfortably.

The 25-year-old is in the shape of his life and has now continued his hot run at Wembley.
Rashford has scored 17 goals in 19 games since his return to United from the World Cup and the forward hasn’t seemed to slow down.
The England international is also one of the few United players to have already tasted success at the club.
The Manchester United youth product was part of José Mourinho’s team that won the Europa League final in 2017 before suffering a six-year drought.
Rashford and company hope the team won’t have to wait as long before they get their hands on some trophies as the club still competes in all remaining competitions.
United’s victory ended a six-year wait for a trophy since winning the Europa League in 2017.
Speaking after the match, United manager Erik ten Hag said this is just the beginning for his Manchester United team.
Ten Hag said: “We have to celebrate, but after that point we have to keep going because this cup can be the inspiration to achieve even more.”
“We are still at the beginning of restoring Manchester United to where we belong, and that is winning trophies.” added the Dutch coach.
The Red Devils’ next game is an FA Cup clash against West Ham and gives the team a chance to progress into another cup competition.
