According to Fabrizio Romanothe midfielder landed in Doha on Monday evening and will undergo his medical treatment before being formally unveiled as the new Al-Arabi player later today.

The midfielder, who won the Euro 2020 with Italy, has been frozen out following Luis Enrique’s arrival at the club earlier this summer and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Verratti will turn 31 in November and signed a new four-year contract with PSG until the end of the 2025/26 season last December.

The Italian joined the French capital from Serie B side Pescara in the summer of 2012 and went on to make 416 appearances for PSG in all competitions, scoring 11 goals.

During his time in Paris, Verratti won nine Ligue 1 titles, six French Cups and six French League Cups.

The midfielder made 55 appearances for Italy, but was left out of Luciano Spalletti’s squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine.

At Al-Arabi, Verratti is reunited with former PSG teammates Rafinha and Abdou Diallo, who left France for Qatar last year and this summer respectively.

PSG, owned by Qatar Sports Investments, also sold Neymar and Georginio Wijnaldum to Saudi Arabian clubs this summer.

Once Verratti’s is complete, the Ligue 1 champions will have received £166 million this summer, with £144 million coming from Qatari and Saudi clubs.
