Marco Asensio could sign a new contract with Real Madrid after the Spanish star’s turnaround over his future.
The attacker was determined to leave the Bernabeu on a free transfer next summer, with Real not wanting to meet the 26-year-old’s contract demands.
With Ascensio free to discuss terms with other clubs from January, it appeared that there was no movement between the sides before the transfer window. However, the Spanish international was now able to stay with the club.

According to marca, the two sides come to the idea of reopening negotiations, with manager Carlo Ancelotti being a big factor in the matter. The Italian boss is one of Asensio’s biggest advocates and wants him to stay in Madrid.
Talks could continue after Asensio heads to the World Cup with Spain next month, and he will prioritize Real Madrid’s offer over any other club. Meanwhile, Madrid was impressed by the Spaniard’s willingness to fight for a place on the wing and his acceptance to be a supporting actor so far this season.
Asensio has only started one game for Real this season, the 3-2 defeat of Los Blancos in the Champions League against RB Leipzig, in a game of little significance as Madrid had already qualified for the knockout stage.
Carlo Ancelotti is a big supporter of Asensio and would like the Spanish attacker to stay
In total, Ascensio made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals for Ancelotti’s side.
He joined Real Madrid from Real Mallorca in December 2014 and spent the rest of that season in Mallorca. The following year, Asensio was loaned to Espanyol, before settling in Madrid during the 2016-17 campaign.
During his stay in the Spanish capital, the 29-capped Spanish star has won three La Liga titles, as well as the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup three times.
It was thought that Asensio would leave Madrid next summer as he was looking for a club where he would be first choice. However, this turnaround would indicate that he is happy to accept his current role at Real.
