Illinois men’s basketball celebrated their second-round victory in the NCAA Tournament in a unique way on Saturday.

After earning an 89-63 victory over Duquesne to advance to the Sweet 16, the Fighting Illini had a water pistol fight in the locker room.

Players and staff all joined in as Underwood got soaked in seconds.

In the video, graduate guard Marcus Domask threw away the water guns and poured water from two paper cups over his carriage.

After their second-round win, Illinois will face Iowa State in the Sweet 16 on March 28

Senior Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 30 points and led Illinois in scoring while recording four rebounds and four assists. Domask was second in contributing 22 points with three rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Coleman Hawkins and Quincy Guerrier scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Illinois finished the regular season with a 26–6 record as the second-seeded team in the Big Ten. They opened the NCAA Tournament with an 85-69 victory over Morehead State in the first round.

The Fighting Illini have won their last six games and will face Iowa State on March 28.

Illinois broke a seven-year tournament drought in 2021 and has competed every year since. They exited in the second round in 2021 and 2022 before losing in the first round last year.
