Many bosses are getting carried away with AI, and workers are getting worried
New research has found that bosses are generally more supportive of AI in the workplace than regular employees, with four in five (82%) leaders enthusiastic, compared to just three in five (57%) employees.
The survey among more than 11,000 knowledge workers from the US, Great Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore and Australia comes from Zoom in its latest report.
The figures also show how different types of workers benefit to varying degrees from using AI tools.
Companies need to encourage the right AI
Three-quarters (74%) of leaders noted that AI has saved them more than an hour a day, while less than half (46%) of regular employees noted this effect. At the other end of the scale, more than half of all employees who don't use AI don't even know how much time they can save.
The numbers illustrate a clear need for education and training when it comes to such time-saving productivity tools.
Additionally, about three-quarters of all leaders said they had noticed faster task completion (78%), higher productivity (77%), higher quality of work (76%), better collaboration (75%), and better decision-making (75%). %), and better remote working experiences (74%) after deploying some form of AI in their business.
However, Zoom's research is just one of a growing number that raises the same concerns about AI that we hear so often: the threat to people's jobs, data security and accuracy.
In addition to more education and policies to protect employees, organizations must also tailor their resources to their employees. For example, knowledge workers value AI for automation, organization, and summarization, while leaders think it is better suited for videoconferencing meetings.
