‘Maniac’ appears in Moscow court after bodies of two escorts – one who had been beheaded – are found days after the ‘cured serial sex killer’ was released from prison for murdering two other sex workers

  • Police now believe he is responsible for two more murders in Russia

An alleged serial sex killer has appeared in court following the discovery of the bodies of two escorts, one of whom had been decapitated, according to reports.

37-year-old detained 'maniac' Alexei Varakin is said to have killed two escorts in a rampage after he was 'unable to have sexual intercourse with them', 'which caused him to go crazy', according to Russian news channel Shot.

The decapitated remains of Olga Vorobyova, 40, were found near a hotel where they are said to have met in Moscow's Izmailovo district.

Vlada Skitskaya, 25, was reportedly murdered a day later in her rented flat in Moscow's business district.

The suspect had recently been released from prison after being imprisoned in 2010 for the murder of two sex workers.

Shot identified the suspect as Alexey Varakin from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, adding that Ms. Vorobyova “had taken drugs and refused to have sex with him, so he cut off her head and ran away.”

According to Shot, Varakin wanted to “de-stress” after Vorobyova's murder, but was mocked by Skitskaya after failing to perform in bed.

He then reportedly lunged at the 25-year-old with a knife, with Skitskaya arguing and injuring her attacker.

Skitskaya, terrified, had managed to call a friend during the attack and say a client was trying to kill her, it was reported.

Her cries for help were also heard by the neighbors.

Police were called but when officers arrived the woman was dead from knife wounds.

According to reports, there were signs of an attempted beheading.

Moscow's prosecutor's office confirmed on Sunday that it is investigating the recent murders of two women, without providing details other than that a 25-year-old woman suffered knife wounds during a dispute at a home in western Moscow.
