Police manhunt for Barry Kenneth Bloomfield

A manhunt has been launched for a prisoner who escaped from a hospital in Far North Queensland despite being handcuffed and wearing a leg iron.

Barry Kenneth Bloomfield, 23, was at Rockhampton Hospital in The Range on Saturday morning when he managed to flee the facility on foot.

He is currently serving two years and six months for assault resulting in actual bodily harm.

Police have warned the public not to approach Bloomfield if they see him and instead call police immediately.

A search for the prisoner has been launched involving the dog squad.

Bloomfield is described as 176 cm tall, weighs 86 kg, has an average build and dark complexion.

He has brown eyes and black hair and several tattoos including a clown face on his chest and right hand and names tattooed on his outer and inner forearms.

He also has scars on his left foot.

He was last seen in a green jersey and shorts, with no shoes and had somehow managed to remove his handcuffs.
