Mandy Moore looks back on the regrettable fashion choices she’s made throughout her career
Mandy Moore took us on a journey through time and talked about the fashion choices she made in the early years of her career.
Speaking with Our magazinethe 40-year-old entertainer, who is expecting her third child with husband Taylor Goldsmith, shared her thoughts on various red carpet moments, music videos and other highlights.
Moore broke onto the music scene in 1999 with her hit single Candle.
She told the publication that the song “shaped everything” in the years that followed, saying, “It opened so many doors for me to try acting and get me to this point.”
Reflecting on what she wore to the 2000 MTV Music Awards – shiny white jeans and a sheer gold top over a white tank top – the star declared, “I absolutely would not wear this today.”

Reminiscing about the special moment, she said, “It was just beginning. [of my career] and at Radio City Music Hall. I was beaming with excitement to be there.’
About filming her first music video, she said: ‘It was all so new to me.’
The expectant mother of three added: ‘I remember being so excited to go through the hair, makeup and wardrobe process. I had never been into glam before.’
On August 17, it will be 25 years since she released her first pop song.
“It almost feels like it happened to someone else, like I’m thinking back to a movie I saw,” she described.
The Y2K visualizer featured scenes of the singer “fake driving” a car and flirting with a lover.
For fans wondering when they can expect new music from the artist, she revealed to the outlet, “This summer is all about figuring out [my] ‘next musical steps.’
After the release of her debut album, Mandy focused on acting.

Her first role was as the hostile teenager Lana Thomas in 2001’s The Princess Diaries, starring Anne Hathaway.
Reflecting on her choice of outfit for the film premiere, she noted, “Anne Hathaway looks like a movie star, and I’m wearing a weird, bleached denim suit.”
Moore added lightheartedly, “It seems like we’re going to very different events.”
And about her trendy low-rise jeans, she said they were “absolutely not my thing anymore.”
Her next step in her emerging acting career was her starring role in the 2002 drama A Walk to Remember, starring opposite Shane West.
She affectionately called her co-star her “caretaker” on set and said she still has a friendship with him.
She took on the role of dying high school student Jamie Sullivan, saying, “That little girl had no idea what she was doing. I leaned on [Shane] to show me how to film a movie and what it was like to be on a set. I love him to bits.’

Moore then starred in This Is Us for six seasons, from 2016 to 2022.
In 2015, she met her husband, a musician, and together they have sons Gus, three, and Ozzie, 21 months.
“We met at a sushi restaurant and had one of those epic four-hour meals where the restaurant closes around you, and that was it. I knew right away that he was The One,” she raved.
On the subject of motherhood, she said, “Your life just becomes Technicolor after it was black and white. [kids]. It’s the best – I love it.’
