  • The forward is reportedly available for £10 million after his valuation was downgraded
  • RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg believes the Bundesliga club should sign him

Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has been recommended to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga by his Swedish teammate Emil Forsberg.

United are reportedly open to offers for Elanga this summer following his lack of playing time during Erik ten Hag’s first season.

The striker, 21, has started just seven games in all competitions and has openly admitted feeling ‘frustrated’ by his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford.

With club figures reportedly lowering their valuation of Elanga to just £10m, Leipzig are being touted to make a cut for him.

And one of their key players has now approved the move and has even revealed that he intends to speak to the club’s president to clarify the need for the deal.

‘We will see. Anthony would be a good fit for us. A young player who wants to get better. We will see. It can happen.

“I spoke to Anthony. But it stays between us. I know Anthony pretty well so it’s perfectly normal when it comes up.

“But he is a young and talented player who suits us. We have been good at developing young and talented players.’

Forsberg has made over 300 appearances during his eight-year spell with Leipzig, earning 80 caps for Sweden, with several of his appearances coming alongside Elanga.

In March, Elanga spoke about his supporting role at United.

He told the Swedish newspaper aftonbladet: ‘It’s frustrating. You want to play, it’s important. But whether you play or not, it’s up to the coach and not me.’

Elanga added: “I know what he wants me to do and I just keep training hard. When the opportunity arises, I just have to be ready.

“We have a lot of conversations, not just about [the game time] but also what is happening around. That’s the good thing, we talk a lot and they help me a lot.’
