In a shock move, Manchester United will appoint Manchester City’s Omar Berrada as its new CEO.
The highly-rated manager has resigned as rivals City’s Chief Football Operations Officer and will look to bridge the gap in the near future.
Mail Sport understands that Berrada’s arrival was driven by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS team, which has agreed a 25 percent stake in United and wants to take control of its football operations.
The takeover is believed to have been signed by United’s owners, the Glazer family. Insiders have revealed that the situation developed quickly, with Berrada identified as the preferred successor to Richard Arnold, who left before the INEOS deal was agreed.
It represents the first major decision made by the people of Ratcliffe and those close to the situation are impressed by the speed at which they have developed.
