Manchester United kick off the pre-season with a friendly against rivals Leeds in Oslo… with the Red Devils set to play Lyon at Murrayfield before departing for their US tour

Manchester United will begin preparations for the season this summer with a friendly against old rivals Leeds in Oslo.

United announced on Thursday that the two clubs will meet at Ullevaal Stadium on July 12. The Old Trafford club previously played in the Norwegian capital against Valerenga, Kristiansund and Atletico Madrid.

United also take on Lyon at Murrayfield before departing for a four-game tour of the US. Erik ten Hag’s team will play against Arsenal in New Jersey, Wrexham in San Diego, Real Madrid in Houston and Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.

After announcing the game in Leeds, United’s director of football John Murtough said: ‘Manchester United are hugely popular in Norway and we are delighted to bring this game to our Norwegian fans. Oslo is home to the club’s largest official supporters’ club, and I know our fans will be flocking to watch this historic match.

“There is a lot of history and a fierce rivalry between the two clubs, making for a competitive first game for Erik and the team to begin their preparations for the 2023/34 season.”

Tickets for the match go on pre-sale from 9am on May 26 for pre-registered fans and Manchester United season ticket holders, Official Members and Executive Club members before general sale begins at 9am on May 30.
