Manchester United have probed French defender Benjamin Pavard, who is worth £30 million, from Bayern Munich as they look to replace Harry Maguire.
Pavard is excited about the move, while United have also spoken with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
West Ham have agreed a £30 million in principle deal with Man Utd for Maguire, with personal terms still to be agreed between the player and the club.
United have identified Pavard as an ideal replacement for their former skipper.
The Frenchman still has a one-year contract at the Allianz Arena and does not intend to sign an extension.

Pavard will face stiff competition for a starting spot in Thomas Tuchel’s side next season following the signing of Napoli’s Kim Min-jae in July.
His ability to play both right-back and centre-back is considered highly valued by Erik ten Hag as he looks to add even more depth to his back-line.
The 27-year-old came over from Stuttgart in January 2019 for thirty million euros.
Over the course of four seasons, he made 162 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarian giants.
He is also a France international with 49 caps and was part of the 2018 World Cup winning squad.
The other names on Ten Hag’s shortlist are Todibo and Tapsoba.

Tapsoba was briefly linked with a move to Old Trafford in 2021.
United have since renewed their interest after Tottenham pulled out of a transfer from the 24-year-old.
He made over 100 appearances for the Bundesliga team since moving from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2020, and was named in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament.
Although his asking price could be a problem for the tight Red Devils. Bayer Leverkusen values the central defender at £43 million.
Todibo has been linked with a move to United all summer, but with Maguire looking set to leave, their interest has intensified.
United are said to have discussed a possible move with the player’s brother and his representatives.
The 23-year-old is said to be available for much cheaper than Tapsoba with an asking price of around £25 million.
