Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams has been banned from driving after accumulating 30 points on his driving licence.

The 23-year-old has been loaned out to promotion-chasing Ipswitch this season but has not appeared for Kieran McKenna’s side since November.

A court heard on Friday that Williams twice failed to inform police about who was driving his Mercedes AMG.

Williams failed to attend the hearing and was convicted in absentia as the court heard he had already accumulated 18 points on his driving licence.

The former England youth international was given 12 extra points (six for each offence) and banned from driving for 12 months.

In October, Williams was given a six-month driving ban, which was lifted last month.

In addition to the ban, the court ordered him to pay a fine of £1,000, a court surcharge of £400 and costs of £85.

A product of the club’s youth academy, Williams made his senior debut for United in 2019 during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at the club.

Williams made 36 appearances in all competitions during his first season, scoring his first goal for the club in a 2–2 draw at Sheffield United.

However, since then the star, who reportedly earns £65,000-a-week at Old Trafford, has found himself on the fringes and on loan at Norwich for the 2021-22 season.

After joining The Tractor Boys on loan in August, Williams made eight Championship starts before Christmas before an injury saw him return to United for treatment.

He has not played for Ipswich since and was left out of the matchday squad for the club’s clash with Huddersfield on Saturday.
