Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell Jadon Sancho for £40 million this summer.

After a clash with Erik ten Hag, Sancho was left out by the Dutchman before returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.

Despite having played just 76 minutes of football that season prior to his return to the Bundesliga, Sancho impressed for Edin Terzic’s side as they reached the final of the Champions League before being defeated by Real Madrid.

Given the acrimonious nature of his departure, it was previously speculated that Sancho’s future at United would be determined by whether Ten Hag remains at the club this summer.

According to a report from BBC Sports United will look to sell Sancho this summer regardless of who is in charge for next season.

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford was thought to be directly linked to whether Erik ten Hag was replaced this summer

Dortmund are said to be interested in bringing the 24-year-old back to Signal Iduna Park on loan next season.

United are looking to secure a permanent transfer for Sancho, and reports suggest the price tag could deter Dortmund from making a move, especially as the club look to replace the outgoing Mats Hummels this summer.

Sancho currently has two years left on his current United contract, which is reportedly worth as much as £300,000-a-week.

United are said to have paid a third of his monumental wages while he was on loan in the second half of last season.

A number of Serie A clubs are said to be interested in signing Sancho this summer, with United keen to secure his departure as they look to reinvest while staying within FFP rules.

However, the club are said to be planning to sell the 24-year-old for £40million, just three years after spending £73million to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.

After impressive performances during his first spell at Dortmund during which he broke into the England team, United paid £73 million to bring Sancho to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021.

However, under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ten Hag, the winger has failed to consistently repeat the performances that made him famous before his move to the Premier League.
