Although often linked with a departure from Tottenham Hotspur – Manchester City tried to sign him two years ago – Kane has remained in north London.
Making the move to Erik ten Hag’s side could boost Kane’s hopes of winning a trophy for the first time in his career.
If they fail to chase down Kane, United have other options to consider, such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
Osimhen could cost £130 million, which would be too expensive for United.
United are also looking to strengthen other parts of their squad, with Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount being considered.
The Ten Hag side are planning to make a £55 million bid for Mount.
Mount, who like Kane has another year on his contract, has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.
