Manchester United have been given a potential boost in their hunt for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Oblak is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding shot-stoppers in world football.

Atlético Madrid have appointed Emiliano Martinez as a replacement if Oblak leaves

United have been linked with a move to Oblak, with the 29-year-old being seen as a possible replacement for David de Gea.

In the summer, Oblak signed a new deal with Atletico that runs until the end of June 2028.

De Gea’s contract will expire at the end of this season, although United have the option to extend his contract for another year. United are still unsure whether the Spaniard will get a new contract.

Oblak has impressed many times for Atletico and has a lot of experience playing in the Champions League.

He has played a total of 360 appearances for Atletico since joining the club in 2014.

Martinez has only played twice in the Champions League, with those two appearances for Arsenal in the 2014-15, but he has made a big impact for Aston Villa in the Premier League since leaving the Gunners in 2020.
