Manchester United reach £13 million deal with Fenerbahce for Fred as Erik ten Hag’s side remain keen on a move to Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard

Manchester United on Thursday agreed a £13 million deal with Fenerbahce to sell Fred to Fenerbahce.

The move, plus Donny van de Beek’s ongoing deal with Real Sociedad, will pave the way for United to add a new midfielder with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat high on their list.

With the Brazilian outbound, Rasmus Hojlund will inherit Fred’s number 17.

Werder Bremen are keen on Brandon Williams. United would prefer a sale to a loan for the 22-year-old and are interested in Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

Amrabat has been the subject of much interest from a number of clubs, with United regarded as one of the front-runners for the Moroccan World Cup hero.

Erik ten Hag’s side have also taken into account the target of Liverpool and Chelsea, Romeo Lavia, and Amadou Onana of Everton.

To make more money this summer, Erik ten Hag must first fire unwanted members of his team, deeming Fred redundant.

Galatasaray saw an undisclosed bid rejected last month, while a number of Saudi Arabian sides also expressed interest in the Brazil international.

Fred joined Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52 million in 2018 and made 213 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals.

United, meanwhile, have held talks about a move for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, with Pavard, Edmond Tapsoba and Marc Guehi also shortlisted.
